Dear McGilvra families and staff,

I am pleased to announce Jolene Anderson has been selected as principal of McGilvra Elementary School beginning July 1.

Principal Anderson was selected through a rigorous formal interview process that included staff, parents, and community participation.

Principal Anderson began teaching middle school science in 1997 with the Riverview School District, which includes Duvall, Carnation, and surrounding areas. She spent five years as an educator at Pine Lake and Pacific Cascade middle schools in the Issaquah School District.

In 2013, she came to Seattle Public Schools as an assistant principal at Eckstein Middle School. There, she implemented Restorative Practices, a mentor program, and student-centered learning projects.

I extend my appreciation for the support and leadership Principal Anderson has provided this school year and welcome her continued dedication and leadership to the school community.
