    Below is a listing of the School Leader Openings for Seattle Public Schools for the 2018-19 school year.  Applications for site-specific openings will only be accepted from current sitting SPS Principals or applicants who have been notified of their acceptance into the 2018-19 Principal School Leader Pool.


    The School Leader Pool is the first step in determining if an applicant is eligible to apply for Site-Based School Leader openings at SPS.  If you are interested in becoming a School Leader here at SPS and have not submitted an application to the 2018-19 Principal or Assistant Principal School Leader Pools, please see the information below under School Leader Pool 2018-19.

    SCHOOL LEADER POOL 2018-19:

    Thank you for considering employment with Seattle Public Schools (SPS).  We are committed to attracting and retaining a top-quality staff to best meet the needs of our students and community. 

     

    We are currently accepting applications for the 2018-19 School Leader Pool.  For the 2018-19 ALL past participants of School Leader Pools must re-apply.  If you were accepted in the 15-16, 16-17, 17-18 School Leader Pools and wish to be participate in the 18-19 pool you must re-apply.  

     

    School Leader Pool Process:

     

    The School Leader Pool (Principals and Assistant Principals) is one of the first steps before a candidate is eligible to apply for Site-Based Administrative openings at SPS. For the school year 2018-2019, SPS will be accepting applications for principals and assistant principals for the School Leader Pool through April 30, 2018. Applicants will benefit from applying as early as possible. The 2018-19 School Leader Pools will close at 5pm on April 30, 2018. 

     

    The School Leader Pool process consists of the following steps below.

     

    The steps included in the selection process are:

    • Online application submitted via Neogov

    • A structured resume that provides information about your work and leadership experiences, accomplishments and results.

    • Cover Letter - (see application for specific details).

    • Screening, review and rating of Cover letter

    • School Leader Principal Only - Applicants passing screening of Cover letter will be invited to participate in a 15-minute interview (Skype is available)

    If an applicant is screened out, they cannot re-apply.  The next opportunity to apply to the pools will be for the 2019-20 school year.

    In addition to exhibiting the competencies, skills, and beliefs outlined above, qualified candidates also must have:

    • A valid Washington State Administrator Certificate or be in the process of obtaining a Washington State Administrator certificate prior to date of hire or July 2018.

    • In most cases, an out-of-state administrative certificate will apply in Washington State. For details on obtaining a Washington State Administrator certificate visit the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) at http://www.k12.wa.us/certification/AdminMain.aspxadd

      *Note: To be eligible for selection to a Principal or Assistant Principal position, verification of principal licensure must be completed.

    • Applicants should have experience in a leadership capacity within a public or private school system and a minimum of three (3) years of successful certificated school experience.

    • At least three years of teaching experience (preferred).

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

    • For Principal candidates, at least three years of experience as a principal or assistant principal (preferred).
